Our
first show was held on November 14, 1987, with 66 craft booths and
about 900 shoppers. The concession stand consisted of a crock pot
of soup
and some hot dogs. By 1998, the show had grown to 210 craft booths
and about 7,500 shoppers along with the welcome addition of Saline
Community Education in 1999 to assist with
the growing
organizational
needs of the show. Along the way the funds raised by the
show helped
support the Saline Future Homemakers of America Chapter, which at
that time was one of the largest in the country. In 1997, the December
show was added also with the assistance of Saline Community Education.
In Spring 2004, a new show was added highlighting spring indoor and
outdoor decor and fashions. In 2005 the November show had 250 craft
booths and almost 10,000 shoppers,
and
the December
show
was
moved
to Friday
night. The funds raised by the shows today support numerous
Saline High School teams and clubs along with various community-based
youth programs.
